Further Support in the Implementation of the Reforms in the Water Sector

Reforming water and wastewater services in North Macedonia through clustering of utilities, a more effective regulation of water prices and strengthening sector coordination at national level

Overview

This European Union funded project supports the Republic of North Macedonia in the implementation of national water sector reforms. By reorganising municipal services and introducing fair tariff systems based on "polluter pays" principles, the project supports better service quality and long-term sustainability of the country's drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.

The impact

The project addresses fragmented service delivery, enabling larger, financially stable utilities to access capital and invest in essential infrastructure upgrades and replacements.
