The second Steering Committee (SC) meeting provided an opportunity to review progress since the first SC meeting and to follow up on the actions agreed previously. Representatives from MoEPP, ERC, ADKOM, and ZELS gathered to discuss the advancement of key project activities and to ensure alignment with the overall objectives of supporting reforms in the water sector.

During the meeting, updates were presented on several critical areas: the development of the National Sector Reorganisation Strategy (MoEPP); strengthening the oversight functions of the Inter-Municipal Committees (ADKOM); upgrading the tariff-setting methodology (ERC); and the preparatory steps for establishing three Joint Public Enterprises (JPEs) (ADKOM). These presentations highlighted both achievements and upcoming challenges, allowing the Committee to provide guidance and recommendations for the next phase of implementation.

The SC also discussed future approaches, including adjustments to the schedule of workshops and training sessions, to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project outcomes. The meeting reinforced the Committee’s role in overseeing progress, addressing potential issues, and supporting the project team in achieving the planned reforms and improvements in water and wastewater services.
